Healing the Soils and Restore Dignity "Where Hunger is a Companion"

Each year, we support small-scale farmers, particularly youth and women, by building regenerative food systems in marginalized communities of Malawi.
We are supporting farmers to boost their yields and increase their income even in the face of climate-change challenges such as droughts, floods and hailstorms. Through sustainable practices and climate smart solutions, we are ensuring that every bite of food is eco-friendly, resilient and aligned with a healthier planet.

Vision

envisions a society where marginalized communities in Malawi are highly resilient to climate change due to empowered women and youth in regenerative agriculture

Mission

to promote regenerative agriculture practices among women and youth as an effective tool to ensure resilience to climate change shocks thereby increasing agricultural productivity consequently eradicating hunger and poverty

Who We Are

We are a youth led social enterprise based in Malawi committed to transforming the food systems. We are doing this by working with marginalized youth and women farmers by building a regenerative food system that is resilient to climate change.

We are transitioning farmers from conventional farming to regenerative agriculture hence ensuring every bite of food is living in harmony with nature.

Nthali is raising Soil Rangers who are not only custodians of the soil but replenish it and pass it on to the next generation. This ensures the stewardness to leave the planet earth better than we found it.

What We Do

the banner for nthali describing the model of the project from indigenous seed bank to cold presser in a flow chart. It has a logo and all those 5 elements of the project.

Nthali is working with marginalized youth and women farmers in Malawi by transitioning them from conventional farming to organic farming in a form of regenerative agriculture. In order to safeguard the farming investments, farmers are empowered with financial literacy skills through Village Savings and Loans.

The farmers are then linked to the Indigenous Seed Bank where they get seed loans to make them seed sufficient that is resilient to climate change.

In order to make them free from anxiety of droughts, they are being provided with water infrastructure that is sustainable. This helps them to produce three times a year.

The farmers are also empowered with skills to make biofertilizer and biopesticide. These complement the efforts of sustainable farming in regenerating the soil health as well as biodiversity.

All these efforts increase crop productivity which leaves them to being cushioned from exploitation of middle men. This is done by processing their indigenous crops into valuable finished products there by completing the regenerative food system.
